Junior Racing

Birth Certificates – A rule will be added to the APBA rulebook specifying that all Junior riders must present a birth certificate to verify proper age of the Junior participant.

Early Advancement of Junior Male riders.  Male Junior riders may petition APBA to be able to compete in other skill level Ski classes provided they meet the criteria below.

1.      Male rider must be 15 years old and provide birth certificate proving proper age.

2.      Have a minimum of 2 years APBA racing experience.

3.      Submit the proper paperwork to APBA and parent minor release form.

4.      The highest skill level the rider is allowed to advance to is Expert. Note – An Expert rider is eligible to race in Pro-Am classes.

5.      Once a male Junior racer moves out of the Junior classes he is NOT eligible to continue to race in the Junior classes. 

6.      Once the rider moves out of Junior he can not go back.

Early Advancement of Junior Female riders – Female Junior riders may petition APBA to be able to compete in other skill level Ski classes (Novice Women’s Ski or Pro-Am Women Ski only) provided they meet the criteria below. 

1.      Female rider must be 14 years old and provide birth certificate proving proper age.

2.      Have a minimum of 2 years APBA racing experience.

3.      Submit the proper paperwork to APBA and parent minor release form.

4.      The highest skill level the rider is allowed to advance to is Expert. Note – An Expert rider is eligible to race in Pro-Am classes.

5.      A female Junior rider that petitions APBA to race in other skill levels is eligible to continue to race in the Junior classes. 

Junior Runabout – Junior Runabout will not be added as an APBA class.  The minimum age to race in the Runabout class is 16 years old.

Junior Freestyle – A Junior Ski Freestyle 10-13 class will be created.  It will be a regional class only.  Specific safety rules related to participation in this class will be added to the APBA rulebook.  Junior racers can participate in Amateur Freestyle at 14 years of age.  Riders must be 16 years old to compete in Pro Freestyle.
